Dig Earth Studio

Privacy & Cookies

Less tracking. More rocks.

Dig Earth Studio keeps data collection deliberately limited. We do not currently use advertising pixels, behavioural profiling or cross-site tracking cookies.

This page explains what information may be processed when you visit the website, use interactive features, contact us or purchase a digital educational resource.

Effective date: 2 October 2026

The short version. Dig Earth Studio does not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use privacy-focused website analytics, functional browser storage where needed, and third-party services to operate the website, process payments and deliver emails.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by:

Dig Earth Studio
Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK): 42150491
VAT ID: NL005536000B26
Email: hello@digearthstudio.com

Dig Earth Studio is responsible for deciding how and why personal information described in this notice is used, except where another service provider processes information independently under its own privacy terms.

2. Information we process

Most parts of the Dig Earth Studio website can be used without creating an account or providing your name.

Information may be processed in the following situations.

Information you provide

  • Your name, email address, optional organisation, selected topic and message when you use a contact form.
  • Your email address and order information when you purchase an educational resource.
  • Information you voluntarily include in an email or other message sent to Dig Earth Studio.
  • If interactive polls are available, any optional suggestion or short answer you choose to submit.

Technical information

Like most websites, the infrastructure used to deliver and secure the site may process technical information associated with requests to the website. This can include information such as an IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, timestamps and security signals.

This technical information is used for purposes such as delivering the website, maintaining performance, detecting abuse and protecting the site against malicious traffic.

3. Cloudflare Web Analytics

Dig Earth Studio uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand general website usage and performance.

Cloudflare describes Web Analytics as a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics service. Its browser beacon collects website performance and page-view information.

According to Cloudflare, Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors' personal data and does not track individual visitors across Cloudflare customers' websites.

Dig Earth Studio uses this information to understand things such as which pages are visited and how well the website performs. It is not used to create advertising profiles.

More information is available from Cloudflare Web Analytics .

4. Cookies and browser storage

Dig Earth Studio does not currently use advertising, behavioural profiling or cross-site tracking cookies.

Functional browser storage

Some features use your browser's local storage so that the feature can work without requiring an account.

For example, the Education shop uses local storage to remember which Activity Packs you have placed in your basket.

This information is stored in your browser. You can remove it by clearing site data or local storage using your browser settings.

Interactive polls

Where a Dig Earth Studio poll is available, local browser storage may be used to remember that the browser has already participated. This helps reduce ordinary repeat voting without requiring an account or identifying individual visitors.

If a poll allows an optional written suggestion, that suggestion is sent to Dig Earth Studio when you submit it. Suggestions are reviewed privately and are not automatically published on the website.

Cloudflare security cookies

Cloudflare provides website delivery and security services. Depending on the security features used and the traffic reaching the website, Cloudflare may set cookies that it classifies as strictly necessary for functions such as traffic management and protection against malicious activity.

These are separate from Cloudflare Web Analytics.

No advertising cookie banner. Because Dig Earth Studio does not currently use optional advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, the website does not currently display a general "accept all cookies" banner.

5. Purchases and Stripe

Digital educational resources sold directly through Dig Earth Studio use Stripe for payment processing and checkout.

During checkout, Stripe may process information required to complete the transaction, such as your email address, billing details, tax information, payment information and details of the items being purchased.

Dig Earth Studio receives the information needed to confirm and fulfil the order, such as the products purchased, payment status and purchase email address.

Full payment card details are processed by Stripe and are not stored directly by the Dig Earth Studio website.

Purchase information is used to:

  • complete and confirm the transaction;
  • calculate applicable tax;
  • provide secure download access;
  • send transactional purchase and download emails;
  • respond to order or refund questions;
  • maintain records required for accounting, tax and legal purposes.

The legal basis for processing purchase information is generally the performance of the purchase contract and compliance with applicable legal obligations.

Stripe's own handling of information is also governed by its privacy documentation: Stripe Privacy Policy .

6. Contact forms and email

If you contact Dig Earth Studio through the website, the contact form may collect:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • your school or organisation, if provided;
  • the topic of your enquiry;
  • the message you submit.

This information is used to receive, review and respond to your enquiry.

Messages submitted through the website and transactional Education emails are delivered using a third-party email delivery service.

Contact information submitted for an enquiry is not added to a marketing mailing list simply because you contacted us.

Depending on the nature of the message, the legal basis for processing may be responding to a request you have made, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or Dig Earth Studio's legitimate interest in communicating with visitors, customers and educators.

7. How long information is kept

Dig Earth Studio does not aim to keep personal information for longer than it is reasonably needed.

Contact messages

Contact messages are kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond to the enquiry and deal with any necessary follow-up. Messages may be kept longer where they form part of an ongoing business relationship or need to be retained for legal or administrative reasons.

Purchase records

Order and accounting information may be retained for the period required under applicable accounting and tax law. Dutch business records are generally subject to statutory retention requirements, and some categories may require longer retention than others.

Browser storage

Information saved in your browser's local storage normally remains there until it is removed by the website, removed by you, or cleared by your browser.

Hosting, security and analytics data

Technical, security and analytics information processed by service providers is retained according to the relevant service configuration and provider policies.

8. Service providers and data sharing

Dig Earth Studio does not sell visitors' personal information.

Information may be shared with service providers where this is necessary to operate the website or provide a service you have requested.

These providers can include:

  • Cloudflare, for website delivery, security and privacy-focused website analytics;
  • Stripe, for payment processing, checkout, billing and tax-related functions;
  • an email delivery provider, for contact-form messages and transactional purchase emails.

Information may also be disclosed where Dig Earth Studio is legally required to do so, or where reasonably necessary to protect the website, its users or Dig Earth Studio against fraud, abuse or security threats.

International processing

Some service providers operate internationally and may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the relevant provider and Dig Earth Studio rely on the transfer mechanisms available under applicable data protection law.

9. Your privacy rights

If the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to the processing of your personal data, you may have rights including:

  • the right to request access to your personal data;
  • the right to ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
  • the right to request deletion in circumstances where the law provides that right;
  • the right to request restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
  • the right to object to certain types of processing;
  • the right to data portability where applicable;
  • the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal exceptions or retention requirements.

To make a privacy request, email hello@digearthstudio.com .

You also have the right to raise a complaint with the relevant data protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens .

11. Changes to this notice

This Privacy & Cookies notice may be updated when the website, its services or the technologies it uses change.

For example, if Dig Earth Studio introduces a new analytics, advertising or tracking technology in the future, this notice and any required consent mechanism will be updated before that technology is used where required.

The effective date at the top of this page shows when this notice was last materially updated.
